It's another LOL read from Tawna Fenske.
I mean that literally. I sat at my kitchen counter, on my couch, the break room at work... and legit Laughed out Loud so many times with this book.
Which, might feel a little weird considering the FMC is writing a book about grief after the loss of her sister and the MMC is struggling with the knowledge that the mom he thought passed away years ago is back from the dead. Or, well, she never really died but her brother told her kids she did... it's a whole thing.
A thing you need to read. 😏
Tawna is amazing at taking serious topics and giving them a humorous spin. She's the queen at this. From the first page--where Brooke mistakenly sends a text referring to sparkly n!ppl3 tassels to the guy who's just there to tow her car-- we're alternating between laughing at the characters and wondering what's going to happen next.
This book does hit on some serious stuff. Loss of a loved one. A parent struggling (in the past) with addiction and what that looks like for their family.
Without giving too much away, I can say that I loved how much these two main characters were open and honest throughout.
And real! So real. Brooke's blinded to some of life and relationships BECAUSE she's so smart and knowledgeable about them. Kaleb is known as Mr. Fixit-- a moniker he loves at the same time loathes. He's aware of this about himself and yet he can't help falling for the advice guru.
This is the 4th book in the series. While you don't necessarily have to read books 1, 2, & 3 to thoroughly enjoy this one, I will say that you'll want to. If this is the first book you pick up, don't worry; it's great as a stand alone; but, when you're done, go ahead and one-click the first three!
